Thursday 21st November – Sunday 24th November

Hi,

It now actually feels like late-November, as we undergo a cold spell of weather. However, the forecast looks much drier and slightly more settled after what was a wild Wednesday morning.

Thursday will be bright with sunny spells and the odd isolated wintry shower. Any showers will ease later. Chilly with highs of 6’C.

Friday will be dry and bright after a cold patchy-frost start. Another cold day ahead with light winds and highs of 5’C.

The weekend promises to be dry but with some frosts and an increasing risk of freezing fog.

Saturday will be bright with sunny spells but some areas may remain overcast after a misty or foggy start. Frost possible early and late. Highs of 5’C.

Sunday again will start cold with frost where skies have been clear the longest. There is also a higher risk of freezing fog.
Where fog lifts we should have bright spells but some fog may lift into low cloud. Highs of 6’C but much colder if fog persists.

The outlook suggests high pressure to stay in charge; keeping us settled and dry with the cold-theme continuing, giving some patchy fog and frost.

Thursday 14th November – Sunday 17th November

Hi,

We are now in mid-November and it looks like next week will see us feel the first chill of the approaching winter.

Thursday will be a windy day making it feel cold with a strong northwesterly across the region. Showers expected in the morning, easing away later. Highs of 8’C.

Friday will again be breezy and feeling cold after a chilly start. However, apart from a low shower risk early on it will be mainly dry with some bright spells in most areas. Highs of 9’C.

The weekend will feel a little milder.

Saturday could dawn a little misty or foggy then the day looks generally cloudy with the odd bright spell. Maybe patchy rain later on. Highs of 10’C.

Sunday will see any patchy rain clear through from the north and a cooler northwesterly wind will bring some brighter conditions. Highs of 9’C

Next week it turns colder, especially into Tuesday & Wednesday with northerly winds, overnight frosts and some wintry showers possible.

Some of the press are basically predicting a mini iceage (snigger). It will not be anything but a normal mid- to late-November cold snap that will bring frosts, snow showers to the our hills and some wintry showers to lower levels. So do not panic. We are looking at daytime temperatures of 4-5’C. So not exactly in the freezer!!

Thursday 7th November – Sunday 10th November

Hi all,

The next few days is looking like remaining wet at times which will keep a current record going; which so far stands at 26 days of consecutive measurable rainfall.

Thursday is set to be bright & breezy with occasional scattered showers drifting in from the west as the day progresses. Feeling cold in the wind. Highs of 10’C.

Friday will again see showers but this time more frequent and maybe merging at times. Breezy again and the wind making it feel cold. Highs of 9’C.

Again we head into a weekend with an unsettled and tricky outlook.

Saturday might see a dry start but showers spreading from the north-west on a chilly wind. Some showers maybe wintry on the highest hills. Turning a little colder into the evening. Highs of 9’C.

Sunday might start with some frost or even an ice risk after Saturday’s showers. This will soon clear and it is expected to turn wet & windy from the west gradually during the day. Winds increasing too. Highs of 8’C.

Looking into next week it starts unsettled but signs show that settled weather will try to build, to at last give us a break from the autumnal unsettled spell.

October 2013 Stats: Warmest: 18.1’C; Coldest: 3.8’C; Wettest Day: 14.0mm; Windiest: 33mph; Total Rainfall: 119.4mm.

Thursday 31st October – Sunday 3rd November

Hi,

Luckily we escaped the storm earlier this week but looking at this weekend it looks like we will be getting our fair share of very windy weather which has the potential to be stormy.

Thursday will see the cool theme continue with bright spells and showers. Some heavy with hail and thunder. A brisk south-westerly wind with highs of 11’C

Friday looks set to start with less showers and a little calmer but still cool. However it looks cloudier later with a threat of rain spreading in. Highs of 12’C.

The weekend sees a return to wet and very windy weather, spreading in from the Atlantic so unsettled and feeling cold on both days.

Expecting a day of rain at times on Saturday, clearing later to showers. Windier than the last few days and highs of 10’C.

Sunday will be windy or even very windy, with gales in parts and especially gusty in the frequent, heavy showers. Hail and thunder possible again. Highs of 10’C.

Next week looks to remain unsettled with showers or spells of rain at times with temperatures around normal after possibly a cold Monday and bonfire night.

Thursday 24th October – Sunday 27th October

Hi,

We are still in a pattern of unsettled weather and that looks set to stay until the end of October. Also there is something to keep our eye on for the start of next week.

Thursday will be a much better day than Wednesday. After a cold, misty and maybe foggy start the morning will be bright with sunny spells. More cloud as the day progresses but remaining dry. A little cooler and less windy. Highs of 13’C.

Cloud and the breeze will increase overnight and a wet Friday looks on the cards, especially in the morning with periods of rain and it will be windy. A bit brighter into the afternoon with some showers but still gusty and feeling a little milder. Highs of 15’C.

As we enter the weekend low pressure will remain in charge influencing the weather.

Saturday will be a showery with occassional bright spells. Some of the showers will be heavy. Cooler with westerly winds. Highs of 14’C.

Sunday sees the showers hanging around but quite scattered as the day goes on and they should die away later into the afternoon. Cool and breezy, with cloud thickening into the evening with rain later. Highs of 14’C.

There is a deep area of low pressure set to cross the UK Sunday night into Monday with high winds and a lot of rain. The location of this low is still not certain but areas could see 55-70mph winds. Thursday 10th October – Sunday 13th October

Hi,

Finally the above average temperatures and very mild feel to October has left us as we feel our first autumn chill.

Thursday will be a brighter day than Wednesday with sunny spells and just maybe the odd shower around. Despite the brightness it will be feeling cold especially in the strong north to north-easterly winds. Highs of only 10’C and cold overnight with a touch of ground frost in places.

Friday will start cold after probably the coldest night for over 4 months but the day should be dry with bright spells. Still feeling cold with a north-easterly breeze and just maybe a rogue shower to the east. Another cold night to follow. Highs of 11’C.

The weekend does promise to be mainly dry but increasingly cloudy and still with a keen wind making it feel cold.

Saturday dawns chilly and some sheltered parts may see some early mist or fog patches then a day of bright spells follows and generally dry across the region but possibly more cloudy later on. Highs of 12’C.

Sunday should be similar to Saturday but there is a chance that eastern areas are more cloudy with a threat of showery rain. Otherwise, bright spells, dry and feeling cold. Highs of 12’C.

Next week looks to remain cool with bright spells.

Thursday 3rd October – Sunday 6th October

Hi,

After over 10 days of reasonably dry and quite settled weather for late September we have seen a change in the last 24 hours.

Thursday seems set to be a wet day generally with rain at times, some of which will be heavy, with a strong southerly wind. Some areas may have a dry start though. Mild to warm for October with highs of 17’C and feeling muggy.

Friday sees the weather start to become settled again as the day progresses. Still a day of showers, with some brighter spells and breezy. Becoming fresher from the west. Highs of 16’C.

It then looks like high pressure will take charge again, building from the south-west and the weather will settle down.

Saturday may just have an early rogue shower but the day looks set to be cloudy with bright spells and although fresher it will be pleasant for the time of year. Highs of 16’C.

Sunday again looks reasonable. It should be dry with fair amounts of bright spells and light winds. Highs of 18’C in some favoured parts.

Looking ahead next week it remains settled and temperatures will be above average for October.

Thursday 26th September – Sunday 29th September

We’ve had the odd summery-like weather day in the past week, but it looks like we may see something more unsettled later this weekend and into next week.

Thursday looks like being a generally cloudy day but some brightness is possible later in the day. There is a risk of drizzle too, especially on higher ground but most areas should remain dry. Muggy. Highs 16’C.

Friday is set to be a dry and brighter day hopefully with sunny spells and feeling less muggy. Highs 18’C.

As we enter the weekend we will see it try to turn unsettled.

Saturday should see a bright morning followed by more extensive cloud later as rain tries to make its way in from the south-west. Hopefully most areas will stay dry during daylight hours but don’t rule out some showery rain later. Highs of 17’C.

Sunday may see rain or showery conditions at times. However, this is still uncertain so don’t be surprised to see a cloudy day with some brighter spells. Highs of 17’C.

Next week looks like being generally cloudy with some showers possible but it may settle down later. Temperatures remaining above average so we can’t complain as we head into October .

Thursday 19th September – Sunday 22nd September

Hi,

September is here and what a miserable weather week it has been. Another wet day to come but then it’s nothing but improvement.

Thursday will see rain spread in from the west turning showery later in the afternoon and then drying up. Another chilly and breezy day. Highs of 14’C.

Friday may see a chilly start with some stubborn low cloud or mist. It will be a generally cloudy day but don’t rule out some bright spells and it should remain dry. Highs 16’C.

A cold start Saturday with some mist around. Some rurals spots may start at 3-4’C but soon warming up and a day of sunny spells awaits. Highs a better 18’C. Another chilly night to follow.

Sunday looks set to be another decent even summer-like day after a possible grey start with low cloud. This will burn off and a dry day is in store with some late-September warm sunny spells. I’m planning a BBQ as we could see highs touching 20’C. A huge improvement on last Tuesday’s high of 10’C.

Looking ahead it seems we will have a week of reasonably warm summery weather with chilly nights and generally dry with some decent sunshine.

Thursday 12th September – Sunday 15th September

Hi all,

We are now firmly in September and the weather is certainly following suit as warm temperatures seem a distant memory after some chilly nights recently.

Thursday could start foggy but then looks like a cloudy day and we will probably see bits & pieces of rain or drizzle left over from Wednesday’s rain. Maybe some heavier rain later. Highs of 15’C.

Friday a generally cloudy start but bright spells peeking through so not a bad day. Maybe some drizzle to the south but it should be generally dry. Highs of 14’C.

The weekend seems a tale of two halves.

Saturday seems a similar day to Friday. Bright spells and it should stay dry. Highs of 16’C.

Sunday starts to see a change. Wet and windy weather will spread in from the west followed by showery brighter weather. Gales in exposed places. Feeling cooler especially in the wind. Highs of 13’C.

Looking ahead; more rain and wind on Monday followed by colder weather so really feeling autumnal.
