Finally, dust off those BBQs – Thursday 27th May 2021 – Bank Holiday Monday 31st May 2021

Hi all,

We’ve had a dreadful month but finally some long-awaited warmth is on the way. Not completely dry but a lift in temperature was long overdue. I did wonder if we would see 20°C before May is out.

** UV levels are now HIGH so don’t forget sun-cream regardless of what the temperature is. **

Thursday: A lovely late-Spring day with plenty of sunny spells. Feeling warm after the dire conditions of late. Max 19°C

Friday: A weak weather-front will bring some light rain and drizzle for the morning. Staying mostly cloudy for the afternoon but turning drier. Max 17°C

Long Weekend: A session in the garden is in order!

Saturday: A cloudy start likely, then the strong sunshine will break the cloud up and warm sunny spells will develop. Light winds. Just the chance of an isolated shower, especially to the west. Max 19°C

Sunday: Looks a great day! BBQ me up! Any early mist clears to sunny skies. Feeling very warm with little or no wind and finally we meet that temperature target. UV levels up to 7! Max 21°C

Temperatures into the 20s in May at last!

Bank Holiday Monday – Looks like more of the same for the morning but cloud could thicken towards the west later turning the sunshine hazy. Max 21°C

We keep rain at bay on Bank Holiday Monday – another BBQ anyone?

Outlook: Some uncertainty as to what happens from Tuesday. Low pressure tries to come in from the northwest, bringing cooler conditions once more and showers. But, at this stage, the latest prediction is that high pressure could remain in control, just, to the south and west and the week turns out to stay settled with temperatures in the late-teens although it could be quite breezy. All to play for so stay tuned via Twitter, @ChadWeather.

Low Pressure Brings more Rain and Wind – Thursday 20th May 2021 – Sunday 23rd May 2021

Hi all,

May continues to disappoint on all fronts. Below average temperatures and above average rainfall continue to dominate our weather. Some hope on the horizon, but meanwhile more of the same to come.

Thursday: Cloud thickening during the morning with some patchy rain moving in. The rain will turn much heavier leading to a wet and windy afternoon. Unusually windy for this time of year with 40mph gusts in exposed places. The rain will become showery later. Cool. Max 12°C

Wednesday night’s satellite picture

Friday: Low pressure in charge so windy conditions once more with frequent showers, perhaps longer spells of rain at times, especially early on and later in the day. Feeling fresh for the time of year. Max 13°C

Weekend: A breather on Saturday.

Saturday: Bright spells with just the odd shower possible. Still on the breezy side and feeling cool but an improvement on the last two days. Max 12°C

Sunday: Another low pressure will arrive from the west. It will start dry then rain will spread across the region, although patchy. Showers later. Breezy and temperatures poor once again. Max 12°C

Outlook: Still on for improved weather as we head towards month-end and the Bank Holiday. Not exactly wall-to-wall sunshine but drier, more settled and temperatures recovering. Still unlikely to see 20°C before the end of May, but with UV levels high, and the late-May sun, the late-teens will do.

High pressure, as promised, looks to build towards month-end and should hang on for the Bank Holiday

Further Unsettled Conditions – Thursday 13th May 2021 – Sunday 16th May 2021

Hi all,

Apologies for no weekly blog last week. From a dry, sunny April to a wet and cool May. Meh. The storm season has started early and there’s no sign of the weather improving any time soon. We could go the whole month without reaching 20°C.

Thundery Showers this week gave some dramatic photos

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with some bright spells. Showers likely into the afternoon, some locally heavy and possibly thundery. Light winds. Max 15°C

Friday: Another mostly cloudy day with some bright spells. Any showers will be well-scattered so a dry day expected for most. Max 14°C

Weekend: Unsettled.

Saturday: Cloudy with some light rain for the morning. This will clear away with bright spells and showers developed for the remainder of the day. Cooler and breezy. Max 12°C

Sunday: Sunny spells and showers. Some beefy with hail and thunder and lightning. Max 13°C

Outlook: Unfortunately, little change with the Jet Stream to our South, meaning we are on the cold side. Sunny spells and hefty thundery showers as low pressure controls our weather. No sign of any early-Summer heat.
