Hi,

So May has been and gone and did offer us a few nice warm days, but overall it was very wet with above average rainfall. So now we are in the Meteorological summer what can we expect? Showery and quite warm probably sums it up best.

Thursday morning sees some rain and cloud left over from Wednesday which will eventually ease and break. We might see some brighter spells later on and warmer than Wednesday. Highs of 16’C.

During Friday we should see some warm, bright spells but also turning humid as winds turn southerly. This humidity might produce an evening shower. Highs of 20’C.

The weekend looks a showery affair and initially humid.

Saturday continues with the showery theme. Scattered heavy showers, with possible hail or thunder but also with some bright spells. Some torrential rain is possible. Highs of 19’C and feeling muggy.

Sunday more of the same, showers, some heavy across the region but these should ease away. Again, some bright spells and feeling humid at first, with highs at 19’C, although it should start to feel fresher.

Looking ahead the showery spell continues but if winds turn to a more southerly direction again then possibly we could see something warmer later. We’ll see.

Thursday 29th May – Sunday 1st June

Hi,

After a wet spell it looks like improving as we head towards the weekend.

Thursday will see a damp morning with some periods of rain which will slowly ease away southwards. The afternoon sees the rain become patchy and turn showery so slightly drier in places. Highs of 15’C.

The weather now improves as high pressure builds in.

Friday promises to be a dry day with variable amounts of cloud. Low risk of an early shower but soon bright spells for most of the day and feeling a bit more pleasant with highs of 17’C.

Similar as we enter Saturday. Hopefully more in the way of sunshine too with warm sunny spells and light winds. Very nice for being outdoors. Highs of 19’C.

Sunday will again be a reasonable day with warm bright spells. Maybe a little more cloud than Saturday, so later on we can’t rule out an isolated shower. Highs of 18’C.

Looking ahead it looks unsettled into next week, so no sign of summer just yet.

Thursday 22nd May – Monday 26th May

Hi,

So another Bank Holiday weekend approaches but after the lovely weekend have we used up all our sun and warmth?

After a decent day on Wednesday, Thursday has a different theme with a cloudy morning with heavy, possibly thundery rain spreading up from the SE. This turns showery. Cooler with highs of 15’C.

Friday the unsettled theme continues. Showers at times. Some heavy but quite scattered. Some brightness in between. Highs of 15’C.

So on to the weekend. A mixed bag really. Not a washout.

Saturday looks likely being another showery day, these scattered albeit some will be heavy. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine. Perhaps a little warmer 16’C.

A similar day on Sunday with some bright spells and scattered showers. Hopefully these will ease later in the day. Highs of 17’C.

At the moment Bank Holiday Monday looks like being quite reasonable. Sunny spells and quite warm. A shower can’t be ruled out. Highs of 18’C.

Thursday 15th May – Sunday 18th May

Hi,

Finally a little bit of drier settled weather has arrived and with it some warmth after a cool week with some substantial rainfall, including the wettest day for 6 months.

Thursday should be a dry day with sunny spells after a misty and possibly overcast morning in some places. Feeling pleasant in any sun with light winds. Highs of 17’C. Some cloud may linger on the hills.

Friday looks to follow suit with a day of sunny spells after any early cloud and possible hill-drizzle breaks up and eases. Feeling warm again and it’s likely we may see highs of 21’C in some parts.

The weekend will see a slow change as the high pressure slips away.

Saturday sees a reasonable day across the region with sunny spells breaking through the clouds. Thicker cloud later on could trigger off a few late-afternoon showers. Still pleasantly warm at 20’C.

Sunday sees the change continue. Any bright spells will eventually be replaced by cloud and showery rain pushing slowly in from the west later with an increasing breeze. Highs a little cooler at 17’C.

The outlook for early next week is for it to be unsettled and showery with average temperatures.

Hi all,

So another Bank Holiday passes with some reasonable weather but not as good as we’d love it to be. Another chance at the end of May so fingers crossed.

Unsettled sums up the coming days’ weather.

Thursday will start mainly dry in most areas but short-lived as cloud and rain spread from the south-west with the odd heavier burst. Quite cool and breezy. Highs of 13’C.

Bright or sunny spells on Friday but these in between showers, which will be heavy with possible hail or thunder and may even merge to longer spells of rain at times. Breezy. Highs of 13’C.

The weekend doesn’t promise much.

It should start bright on Saturday but cloud will thicken and rain with an increasing breeze will develop over the region as the day progresses. Highs of 14’C.

Sunday sees the rain push away to the east leaving behind sunshine and frequent heavy showers as well as a keen north-westerly breeze. Feeling cooler with highs of only 12’C.

Bank Holiday Update ~ Start of May 2014

Hi,

As per the norm the weather is always changing and it now looks like Sunday will be the hiccup in some reasonable long-weekend weather.

Saturday will start cold after a rural frosty start. It should be a day of sunny spells but these will turn hazy later as cloud spreads in from the west. The night is not expected to see any frost due to this cloud-cover. Highs 14’C.

So Sunday as mentioned looks worse than first thought. Mainly cloudy and it looks like rain will be further south than first predicted so expect to see some light rain at times easing later on. Fingers crossed it does a U-turn and stays further north. Mild with highs of 14’C.

Bank Holiday Monday looks better. Sunny spells once any early cloud breaks. Feeling pleasant and warm. Highs of 17’C.

That’s your update. Few drinks in Manchester for me on Sunday. I was hoping for some beer garden action but not looking likely. Boooooo.

Hi,

Diurnal means a big temperature difference between day and night and we will see a perfect example of this, this coming Bank Holiday weekend.

Thursday will be a cooler day than recently and we can expect rain at times. This will push away south later allowing colder air to spread down from the north. A cold northeasterly breeze. Highs of 12’C.

Friday looks a reasonable day with a chilly start. Bright or sunny spells arriving during the day and it should remain dry. Feeling colder as winds are from a northerly direction. A cold night ahead with clear spells allowing for a widespread ground frost and an air frost in rural spots where we could see lows of -2’C so gardeners take note. Frosts in May aren’t common but always possible. Highs of 12’C.

The weekend promises a settled theme as high pressure will be in charge.

Saturday will be a decent day after that cold start. Sunny spells looks the order of the day and remaining dry. Light winds making it feel pleasant in the sunshine with highs at 14’C. A ground frost is possible overnight.

Sunday will see temperatures start to recover a little and it will remain dry with sunny spells. Possibly a little bit more in the way of cloud compared to Saturday. Highs of 16’C and again with light winds, feeling nice.

Bank Holiday Monday sees us hold on to the high pressure for another day so expect dry weather with warm bright spells. Highs of 18’C.

Hi,

Hope you all enjoyed the Easter break which saw some warm sunshine at times. We now have replaced this with more unsettled conditions.

Thursday looks like having a bright morning after a chilly start in some rural spots. However, showers will become quite frequent during the afternoon and some of them could be heavy with possible thunder. Highs of 15’C so not too bad in the brightness.

Friday seems a less lively day concerning showers. Mainly cloudy with some brightness throughout the day. An isolated shower is possible but not as widespread as on Thursday. Highs of 14’C.

The weekend seems to start off reasonable but still unsettled.

Saturday sees a bright morning but it should become breezy into the afternoon with rain spreading across the region. Feeling a little cooler with the cloud and rain. Clearer conditions into the evening. Highs of 13’C.

Sunday will be a day of sunshine and showers. These quite heavy again with hail or thunder. Showers easing away a little into the evening. Highs of 15’C.

Thursday 17th April – Sunday 20th April

Hi,

It’s been a lovely week but all change on Thursday as we lose the lovely Spring sunshine.

Thursday will be a cloudy day with a cool northwesterly breeze with some light rain possible during the morning. Drier later with limited bright spells, a big change from Wednesday. Highs of 11’C.

We are looking at a dry day on Friday but with sunny spells across the region. An improvement on Thursday. Highs of 13’C.

We should see more in the way of sunshine again on Saturday and feeling warmer. A dry day so we can’t complain but it could well be the last of some decent sunshine for a while. Highs of 14’C.

Friday and Saturday night could give a ground frost where skies stay clear the longest so gardeners be aware.

Easter Sunday is a tricky forecast with some uncertainty. It looks like bright spells will be replaced by cloudier skies as the day progresses with a risk of rain into the evening. Highs of 12’C.

Looking ahead signs are it will be unsettled, cool and showery so possibly not a great Bank Holiday Monday.

Thursday 10th April – Sunday 13th April

Hi,

We slipped into a cooler spell recently with some wet days but this forecast promises some drier conditions.

Thursday will be a mainly cloudy day with some bright spells. A band of light rain or showers pushing down from the north-west later in the day fizzling out all the time. Highs of 13’C.

Friday looks a reasonable day with bright spells and staying dry. Winds light and highs of 13’C with a chilly night ahead with a low-risk of some ground frost in sheltered parts.

The weekend promises a lot of dry weather but with variable amounts of cloud so not blessed with copious amounts of sunshine.

Saturday sees another day of occasional bright spells. Later a band of cloud sinks south, weakening all the while with some spots of rain in places. Highs of 13’C.

Similar on Sunday with high pressure not too far away. This means bright spells again, once that band of cloud is out of the way, and generally a dry picture with light winds. Highs of 13’C.

Looking ahead we remain settled for a while but hints are for a cooler and possibly unsettled Easter with chilly winds. We’ll see.
