Thursday 3rd October – Sunday 6th October

Hi,

After over 10 days of reasonably dry and quite settled weather for late September we have seen a change in the last 24 hours.

Thursday seems set to be a wet day generally with rain at times, some of which will be heavy, with a strong southerly wind. Some areas may have a dry start though. Mild to warm for October with highs of 17’C and feeling muggy.

Friday sees the weather start to become settled again as the day progresses. Still a day of showers, with some brighter spells and breezy. Becoming fresher from the west. Highs of 16’C.

It then looks like high pressure will take charge again, building from the south-west and the weather will settle down.

Saturday may just have an early rogue shower but the day looks set to be cloudy with bright spells and although fresher it will be pleasant for the time of year. Highs of 16’C.

Sunday again looks reasonable. It should be dry with fair amounts of bright spells and light winds. Highs of 18’C in some favoured parts.

Looking ahead next week it remains settled and temperatures will be above average for October.

Thursday 26th September – Sunday 29th September

We’ve had the odd summery-like weather day in the past week, but it looks like we may see something more unsettled later this weekend and into next week.

Thursday looks like being a generally cloudy day but some brightness is possible later in the day. There is a risk of drizzle too, especially on higher ground but most areas should remain dry. Muggy. Highs 16’C.

Friday is set to be a dry and brighter day hopefully with sunny spells and feeling less muggy. Highs 18’C.

As we enter the weekend we will see it try to turn unsettled.

Saturday should see a bright morning followed by more extensive cloud later as rain tries to make its way in from the south-west. Hopefully most areas will stay dry during daylight hours but don’t rule out some showery rain later. Highs of 17’C.

Sunday may see rain or showery conditions at times. However, this is still uncertain so don’t be surprised to see a cloudy day with some brighter spells. Highs of 17’C.

Next week looks like being generally cloudy with some showers possible but it may settle down later. Temperatures remaining above average so we can’t complain as we head into October .

Thursday 19th September – Sunday 22nd September

Hi,

September is here and what a miserable weather week it has been. Another wet day to come but then it’s nothing but improvement.

Thursday will see rain spread in from the west turning showery later in the afternoon and then drying up. Another chilly and breezy day. Highs of 14’C.

Friday may see a chilly start with some stubborn low cloud or mist. It will be a generally cloudy day but don’t rule out some bright spells and it should remain dry. Highs 16’C.

A cold start Saturday with some mist around. Some rurals spots may start at 3-4’C but soon warming up and a day of sunny spells awaits. Highs a better 18’C. Another chilly night to follow.

Sunday looks set to be another decent even summer-like day after a possible grey start with low cloud. This will burn off and a dry day is in store with some late-September warm sunny spells. I’m planning a BBQ as we could see highs touching 20’C. A huge improvement on last Tuesday’s high of 10’C.

Looking ahead it seems we will have a week of reasonably warm summery weather with chilly nights and generally dry with some decent sunshine.

Thursday 12th September – Sunday 15th September

Hi all,

We are now firmly in September and the weather is certainly following suit as warm temperatures seem a distant memory after some chilly nights recently.

Thursday could start foggy but then looks like a cloudy day and we will probably see bits & pieces of rain or drizzle left over from Wednesday’s rain. Maybe some heavier rain later. Highs of 15’C.

Friday a generally cloudy start but bright spells peeking through so not a bad day. Maybe some drizzle to the south but it should be generally dry. Highs of 14’C.

The weekend seems a tale of two halves.

Saturday seems a similar day to Friday. Bright spells and it should stay dry. Highs of 16’C.

Sunday starts to see a change. Wet and windy weather will spread in from the west followed by showery brighter weather. Gales in exposed places. Feeling cooler especially in the wind. Highs of 13’C.

Looking ahead; more rain and wind on Monday followed by colder weather so really feeling autumnal.

Thursday 5th September – Sunday 8th September

Hi,

After a few days of summery weather we are again back to the temperatures we would expect to see in September, so I hoped you managed to grab a BBQ or two whilst you could this week.

Soon clouding over on Thursday with drizzle or some light rain spreading in from the north-west. Some places will stay dry though. Still a reasonably warm day with highs of 18’C.

Friday will see cooler conditions across the region with a fresher feel and it’s looking likely to be a wet day with rain at times which will eventually clear late in the day. Highs a much cooler 15’C.

Saturday will be a day of some bright or sunny spells across the region and with occasional showers but Friday’s rain may linger on in some places early on. Highs of 16’C.

Sunday keeps the showery theme going with some bright spells as well. The showers should die away later in the day with rain possible overnight. Highs of 17’C.

Looking ahead the weather seems to be normal for September with occasional showers.

Thursday 29th August – Sunday 1st September

Hi all,

I hope you all enjoyed the glorious Bank Holiday weather we experienced. In weather-terms we are now leaving the summer months behind and entering into autumn and it will certain feel it this weekend.

Thursday will dawn bright but cloud soon increasing and some light rain possible across the region as the afternoon progresses and winds increasing. Highs of 19’C.

Friday will be a generally cloudy and windy day with a fresh westerly breeze. Any early brightness should be short-lived and rain is expecting late afternoon and evening but only patchy. Highs of 20’C.

Saturday will see the weather feel more autumnal as cooler air has spread in from the north-west. It will be a windy day with bright spells and the odd shower possible. Feeling cool especially in the breeze. Highs of only 15’C.

Sunday will maintain the weekend’s cool, bright and windy theme with showers possible blown in on a fresh north-westerly wind but most places dry. Highs a chilly 14’C.

Looking ahead we will see temperatures recover slightly but with a fresh westerly breeze which will give a shower-risk at times.

Thursday 22nd August – Monday 26th August

Hi,

A couple of warm days in this forecast but no sign of the summery weather returning, that we saw in July, as we approach the end of August.

Thursday will be a cloudy day with possible drizzle at first but I am hopeful it will brighten up later in the day as the cloud breaks and it will feel quite warm and humid. Highs of 22’C.

Friday looks likely to be a day of very warm bright spells and again feeling humid, especially with light winds. By the evening there is potential for the cloud to bubble up and produce some late-in-the-day sharp showers. Rain is expected overnight. Highs of 24’C.

Unfortunately the weekend sees the weather turn unsettled and a bit unpredictable as low pressure tries to establish itself over the UK.

Saturday will see a few bands of heavy showers across the region for most of the day and it will eventually feel a little cooler and less humid by the evening. Highs of 19’C.

Sunday will be a better day than Saturday with sunshine and showers and with temperatures around average. Again some showers will be heavy but some places maybe lucky enough to miss them. Highs of 20’C.

Looking ahead to Bank Holiday Monday; at the moment it seems to be another day of sunshine and showers but with the showers becoming less heavy and more scattered. Highs of 20’C.

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend.

Thursday 15th August – Sunday 18th August

Hi all,

I have had a lot of questions about whether summer has finished for this year. Well don’t lose hope yet as current long-term forecasts point towards it turning settled, sunnier and very warm again once we enter into midweek next week, so hopefully a decent end to August.

After a muggy night, Thursday will dawn cloudy with light rain or drizzle around and this sets the pattern for the day. We may see some brighter weather later in the day but generally cloudy with bits and pieces of rain around. Feeling humid with highs of 20’C.

It doesn’t get much better as we enter Friday. The day will see some periods of rain around in the morning which will eventually clear away during the afternoon as a little fresher but breezier weather pushes in from the west with some showers. Highs of 18’C.

Weather fronts pushing in from the Altantic take charge over the weekend so not great for planning anything outside.

Saturday should start bright but quickly this will be replaced by wet and windy weather as rain sweeps in from the west. Most of the day will be wet and breezy and it will feel cooler too. Highs of only 16’C.

Sunday will be another cool and breezy day. Any early rain will die out and leave us with a day of sunshine and occassional heavy showers blown in on a stiff westerly breeze. Highs of 17’C.

Looking ahead into next week sees a showery day on Monday but confidence is there after that for high pressure to build and the weather to settle down and hopefully giving us another chance to taste summer. Still a long way off and subject to change but I have my fingers crossed.

Thursday 8th August – Sunday 11th August

Hi,

We are now over week into August and we seem to have left the hot weather of July behind us. For now, that will remain the case but long-term forecasting weather models are hinting at a decent end to August. A long way off but something to pin our hopes on.

Thursday looks like being a reasonable day with sunny spells and just a low risk of a light shower. Light winds and highs of 21’C making it pleasant in the sun.

Friday will see a weather front spread some drizzly to light rain in from the west but some places may escape dry as the band of rain weakens. In general it will be a cool, breezy and cloudy day with any brightness limited and arriving late in the day. Highs of 18’C.

Saturday should see the return to sunshine and light showers. Some areas will miss the showers and it won’t feel too bad in the sunshine. Highs of 20’C.

Sunday may start off on a bright note but it will soon become cloudier and showery and these will be blown in on a brisk westerly breeze. Highs of 18’C.

Looking ahead into next week, the weather will remain unsettled at times and with temperatures around average for August.

Thursday 1st August – Sunday 4th August

Hi all,

Well what an eventful weather week that was. Thunderstorms and prolonged torrential rain Saturday night into Sunday produced some staggering rainfall statistics. We recorded 63mm of rain in just over 9 hours, which is almost a month’s worth of rain for July, and during a one-hour period we saw an impressive 20mm.

By the time we get to Thursday we will have introduced very warm and humid air again. After a possibly drizzly start it will be a day of sunny spells and some isolated, thundery showers by the afternoon with highs of a muggy 26’C.

This humid and very warm weather will be short-lived though. As we go into Friday we could see some rain early on. It will be generally cloudy at first but this will be replaced by brighter and showery weather but also fresher conditions with a steady breeze. Highs of 23’C.

Saturday will be a day of scattered showers, which maybe heavy at times especially on the hills, but also with some pleasant sunny spells. Highs of 22’C.

Sunday should start off on quite a sunny note, but cloud will bubble up to give another day of sunshine with the odd shower risk but hopefully less showers than on Saturday. Highs of 21’C.

Looking ahead next week the weather seems to be remaining in the slightly unsettled mood with sunshine and scattered, heavy showers and near normal temperatures.
