Thursday 2nd October – Sunday 5th October

Hi all,

Finally some autumnal weather is arriving as we leave a record-breaking dry September behind.

After a cold start on Thursday with sunny spells the afternoon will turn a little cloudy but remain dry with some bright spells. Highs of 16°C.

Signs of change on the horizon as Friday arrives. Bright spells and not too bad in daylight hours then gusty winds with rain, late in the evening or overnight, which could be persistent and heavy. Highs of 17°C.

A much different feel to the weather on Saturday. At last it feels autumnal with much fresher air over the region. Any early rain clears to sunny spells and feeling colder in the fresh breeze. Highs of 14°C.

Sunday looks like a day of sunshine and showers, possibly heavy or thundery. Windy again and feeling cool. Highs of 13°C.

Looking ahead, more autumn-like weather with blustery showers and feeling cool or even cold.

Thursday 25th September – Sunday 28th September

Hi all,

Even after some rain this week, September is certainly going to go down as one of the driest I’ve ever recorded.

Thursday will be a breezy day and feeling quite cool with mainly cloudy conditions and some scattered showers. Highs of 17’C.

Not much change into Friday. Generally cloudy with a few bright spells. Again we can’t rule out some showery rain, especially early on, followed hopefully by a nicer evening. Highs of 17’C

Into the weekend I am expecting some improvement and a drier picture.

After a chilly start, Saturday will be a bright day with some sunny spells and winds should be lighter too making it feel a little warmer. It should remain dry. Highs of 18’C.

A dry day is expected on Sunday as well but as well as some bright or sunny spells, a lot of cloud is expected. Highs of 18’C.

Looking ahead there are some signs that later next week some warmer air will creep up from France and introduce a warmer spell. It’s still a week away, so only a chance for now but fingers crossed.

Hi,

September continues and we remain generally settled and with it has come a very dry month with only 6mm of rain recorded so far. Currently it is the driest start to September since 1960 in the UK. Those gardens need a drink!

Not much change into Thursday. After a cloudy start, the day should be dry with some warm bright spells coming through, especially the further west you are. Feeling a bit humid and highs could reach 22’C.

Friday will be a little cooler but still with pleasant sunny spells and light winds. There is a chance of some scattered possibly heavy showers later but these likely to be hit and miss. Highs of 20’C.

As we go into the weekend, little change with high pressure coming in from the west so more settled weather.

Saturday morning could still see some local showers around but these fading to give a day of bright spells and cooler temperatures. Highs of 18’C.

A cloudy start on Sunday but this should break-up slowly during the day to give a dry day with bright spells. Highs of 18’C.

Looking ahead into next week it looks like little change until the back end of the week. It then looks like cooler, more unsettled and wetter weather will arrive from the west or north-west.

Thursday 11th September – Sunday 14th September

Hi all,

The weather is still in a settled pattern with some warm, bright days and chilly, misty nights as high pressure is firmly in control.

Over the coming 4 days we don’t see much change from recent conditions and it will remain dry. Time to water the gardens perhaps?

Thursday will be dry and after a dull, misty start in places, some sunny spells will come through so feeling very pleasant in any sunshine. Highs of 19’C.

Probably a bit more stubborn cloud on Friday as the wind turns easterly dragging the cloud in. Again a dry day with some sunny spells. Highs of 18’C.

A dry weekend is promised but with quite a lot of cloud present. Where we do see some persistent cloud it will feel cool, but on the flip side, any sunny spells will make it feel pleasant. These conditions are expected through Saturday and Sunday with temperatures similar at 18’C. With more cloud, the night temperatures will not be as cool as previous days.

Looking ahead into next week and initially the dry, settled weather continues. However, from midweek the high pressure will have slipped away and a return to wet and unsettled weather looks likely to return.

Hi all,

High pressure has now taken charge of our weather bringing plenty of settled conditions across the region but just not as much sun as we’d wish for.

Thursday will be bright and in spells of sunshine it will feel very pleasant for the time of year. Light winds and more general cloud later. Highs of 21°C.

Friday will be cloudy with some brightness. Dry and with winds shifting to a cooler northeasterly direction we can expect highs of 19°C.

As we enter the weekend with the gentle breeze from the northeast, we will see yet more cloud and at times thicker.

Saturday and Sunday look similar. A mainly cloudy affair with some brightness but in some places the cloud might be thick enough to see some light drizzle especially during Saturday morning. Highs around 18°C but if you do see some prolonged brightness then maybe a degree or two higher.

Looking ahead the settled theme continues but the risk of showers might not be too far away.

August 2014: Warmest 20.6°C; Coldest 6.7°C; Wettest 32.6mm; Windiest 36mph; Total Rainfall 136.2mm.

Thursday 28th August – Sunday 31st August

Hi,

After a disappointing Bank Holiday the weather improved for a couple of days but it’s back to square one these next few days. For Thursday we see early rain then sunshine and afternoon showers. Highs of 19°C.

An area of low pressure is in charge now so Friday will see sunshine and showers with a keen wind. Some showers may merge to give longer spells of rain at times. Highs of 17°C.

It’s a slow, improving picture over the weekend.

Saturday will be a breezy day with bright spells and showers. Some heavy. Winds easing later. Highs of 18°C.

It looks drier as we head into Sunday so apart from the odd shower later on it will be a day of bright spells. Highs of 19°C.

Promising signs next week of plenty of dry weather as high pressure builds. Sunny spells across the region will see temperatures begin to rise so don’t put those BBQs away. Indian Summer?

Thursday 21st August – Monday 25th August

Hi,

It was a chilly start to the week with northerly winds and the temperatures will stay slightly below average.

After a chilly start, Thursday will be bright but thickening cloud from the north will bring isolated showery rain. Some places staying dry. Cool with highs of 15°C.

Yesterday’s showers clear to a day of bright spells and occasional afternoon showers on Friday. Still not warm, highs of 16°C.

A cold start on Saturday but a promising day with sunny spells and generally dry with an outside chance of an early shower or two. Highs of 16°C.

Sunday looks a bright day with sunny spells turning hazy later. Risk of rain into the evening and overnight. Highs of 16°C.

Looking ahead for Bank Holiday Monday it looks like the Atlantic will feed us with showery rain from time to time and a little breezy. Highs of 16°C.

Thursday 14th August – Sunday 17th August

Hi all,

After the remnants of ex-Hurricane Bertha we can expect a couple of calmer days ahead but with rain still in the forecast.

With the aforementioned storm still sitting away to our north-east we can expect a cool day on Thursday with a brisk north-westerly wind feeding in showers across the region. Brighter and drier later. Highs of 17°C.

Friday we fair a little better with a drier day expected and less windy. Sunny spells and one or two showers well-scattered. Highs of 18°C.

The weekend sees Saturday looking the better day of the two.

Bright spells during Saturday and most places dry during daylight hours. More cloud into the late-afternoon and with rain expected late evening and overnight. Highs of 18°C.

Sunday early rain clears to sunshine and showers. Some heavy and frequent in places. A little breezy again. Cooler with highs of 16°C.

Looking ahead still no sign of a heatwave or any very warm weather returning as it remains cool for August with frequent showers.

Thursday 7th August – Sunday 10th August

Hi,

Ex-Tropical Storm anyone? 30% chance according to the Met Office (graphic).

After some rain yesterday, Thursday looks much better. Sunny spells across the region with just the chance of an afternoon shower. Pleasant with highs of 21°C.

Friday looks to be a mixed affair. Bright spells throughout the day but also with some showers in the afternoon which could merge to give longer spells of rain in the evening especially to the east. Highs of 19°C.

The weekend doesn’t promise much.

More showers on Saturday, some locally heavy but quite scattered. We are still in August so feeling nice in any periods of sunshine. Highs of 20°C.

It looks like Sunday will start bright but it is expected to turn wet and windy later on as rain spreads from the south-west. This will be heavy in places. This is actually the remnants of Tropical Storm Bertha so one to keep an eye on regarding high rainfall amounts and windy conditions. The track of this “storm” could change, and even miss the UK, so watch for updates on Twitter. Highs of 19°C.

Looking ahead into next week. Not much change but hopefully something more settled in the latter part of the week. No signs of a summer heatwave.

Thursday 31st July – Sunday 3rd August

Hi,

July has been a decent month but as we enter August the weather is set to turn unsettled with periods of showery rain.

Thursday will see some bright spells but also with a north-westerly breeze. This will introduce some scattered showers especially later in the day. Highs of 20°C.

Friday will see low pressure taking charge so expect frequent spells of showery rain with bright spells in between. Thunder a possibility. Cooler and breezy at times. Highs of 19°C.

Not much improvement over the weekend.

Saturday sees showers at times continuing and some prolonged periods of rain are possible, again don’t rule out some thunder. Feeling cool and breezy. Either side of the showers some bright spells are possible. Highs of 18°C.

Unsettled conditions stay in place for Sunday with little change. Bright spells either side of showers which might ease slightly later. Breezy. Highs of 19°C.

Looking ahead it continues unsettled with average temperatures with breezy and wet conditions at times.
