Thursday 18th June 2015 – Sunday 21st June 2015

Hi all,

We’re still waiting for “that” heatwave and signs are we won’t be seeing one in June. The emphasis is on a settled spell of weather coming up with about average temperatures and nothing major from hot to wet.

Thursday will generally be a cloudy morning with a fresher feel to the weather. Some brighter spells are possible later in the day. Max 16°C.

As we enter Friday high pressure is close by to our west but cloud and cool air are feeding around it from the northwest. A mainly cloudy day. Some bright spells possible but also some hill-drizzle. Max 15°C.

The weekend promises similar.

Saturday and Sunday won’t be too different. Plenty of cloud about. Don’t be surprised to see the odd patch of light rain or drizzle especially in the mornings but during the day a lot of dry weather but with it plenty of cloud. If bright spells do pop up now and again it will feel pleasant with the strong sunshine. Max 17°C.

Next week looks to have little change until later in the week where we could return to unsettled conditions from the west. No sign of a heatwave.

Thursday 4th June 2015 – Sunday 7th June 2015

Hi,

Well June didn’t start well did it, with a deep area of low pressure bringing unseasonal gales and for some of us an inch of rain. At least the future holds better news. Not a heatwave as per the usual media nonsense but something warmer and drier.

Thursday will be dry day with warm sunny spells which could be hazy at times. Feeling much warmer than of late as a southerly breeze feeds up some humid air. Max 19°C.

As we head into Friday we have a contrast across the UK with us in the middle. To our NW, cooler cloudier conditions with rain and to our SE, hotter conditions with some torrential thunderstorms likely. For us this means a settled day again with warm sunny spells. However, it might not stay dry as the cooler air edges east meaning some showers might be set off later in the day so watch out for those. Humid at times. Max 18°C.

So what’s for the weekend. Locally the annual Parklife Festival is on and conditions could be a lot worse but not the heatwave they were promising via media reports earlier in the week.

Saturday might start off with a few showers but these will clear to leave a day of sunny spells and feeling fresher as the cooler air has pushed east. Max 15°C.

A dry day seems likely on Sunday with variable amounts of cloud and bright or sunny spells. Temperatures around average. Max 16°C.

Looking ahead sees high pressure become established across the country bringing dry days with sunny spells and temperatures might start to edge up a notch. Nothing too hot yet on the horizon, but the settled conditions will be welcome news for everyone.

Thursday 28th May 2015 – Sunday 31st May 2015

Hi all,

Rumours of some summery weather on the way. More about that shortly, but what’s coming up in the next 4 days?

Thursday won’t be too bad overall but as well as sunny spells some showers are expected. A brisk cool westerly wind though and disappointing temperatures. Max 13°C.

On to Friday and it’s particularly unsettled. Low pressure to our northwest is in charge. Frequent showers during the day with some hail or thunder likely. Hopefully these showers ease off later in the day. Windy and cool once again. Max 12°C.

The weekend is split with Saturday your best day.

We start the weekend with a ridge of high pressure nudging in from the southwest so a settled day with some sunny spells. Pleasant in the sun and a dry day but still temperatures  below average. Max 14°C.

The gardens will enjoy some more rain on Sunday. A wet morning with rain at times from the west. Later on, it will be more of a showery theme and remaining cool. Not a great day with another low pressure influencing. Max 13°C.

Looking ahead it remains unsettled with further spells of rain or showers and cool. However, at the moment, it looks like later next week high pressure builds from the south and as well as some drier weather with sunny spells, the temperatures should begin to rise. I’m hoping we see some into the 20s. In the current time-frame there’s still a chance for it to change. As always, keep in touch with @ChadWeather on Twitter for your local weather updates.

Jon

Thursday 21st May – Bank Holiday Monday 25th May

Hi all,

Looks like we will have to wait and see what June brings before we see our first taste of summer. Our weather has been dominated by cooler-than-normal northwesterly winds bringing showers or longer spells or rain. The good news is, this is set to calm down and retreat to more northwesterly regions but some weather fronts will find their way southeastwards.

Thursday will be a mainly dry day with bright spells. Plenty of cloud around at times which gives a low shower-risk but feeling much improved on recent days especially in any sunshine. Lighter winds. Max 15°C.

As we go into Friday we see more in the way of cloud. Some bright spells early but soon replaced by thicker cloud with the chance of seeing some light rain or drizzle. Cooler. Max 13°C.

Not bad on Saturday with cloud breaking to give some sunny spells and feeling warmer. UV levels high at 6 in any longer spells of sunshine. Max 16°C.

Cloud and light rain overnight into Sunday morning but this should break up and ease to give some bright spells for the rest of the day. However, cooler and breezy. Max 13°C.

A ridge of high pressure tries to build in from the southwest for Bank Holiday Monday so a dry day looks on the cards at the moment. Mainly cloudy at first with some light rain possible but hopefully breaks will appear and sunny spells will develop. Max 14°C.

Thursday 14th May – Sunday 17th May

Hi all,

Halfway through May and no sign of an early summer. Quite the opposite as next week looks cool and showery as well as breezy.

Thursday was looking wet but with rain swinging across southern England rather than northern England it looks like we will miss it and just have a dry day with bright spells. Max 12°C.

As we enter Friday the low pressure to the south moves away and a brief ridge of high pressure arrives. A settled day with bright spells but cloudier later with light rain overnight. Max 14°C.

The weekend looks better on Saturday when we can expect bright or sunny spells but still temperatures disappointing for the time of year. It should though remain dry. Max 14°C.

Sunday sees a change as winds increase. Any bright spells in the morning being replaced by cloudier conditions into the afternoon and showery rain becomes a risk. Feeling cool. Max 13°C.

Looking ahead, the Atlantic looks set to rule our weather with some showery rain at times and a cool west or even northwesterly airflow. No sign of summer regardless what the media say. 😉

Thursday 7th May – Sunday 10th May 2015

Hi all,

We are firmly in May now but the weather continues to misbehave. Only bit of good news is something warmer early next week.

Thursday will be an improvement from recent days. Sunny spells and some scattered showers especially early on. Windy early on but easing all the time throughout the day. As long as the showers don’t hang on, brighter skies later in the afternoon. Still cool for the time of year. Max 12°C.

Friday promises to be a generally dry morning for most. Lighter winds and bright spells. Temperatures a little higher. Cloudier later in the day with rain into the evening or perhaps late-afternoon. Max 14°C.

It’s the Manchester 10k on Sunday and it looks likely the better day of the weekend.

Saturday will see overnight rain clear but to a day of sunshine and heavy showers. Possible thunder. Max 13°C.

A ridge of high pressure builds in on Sunday, killing off the showers and giving us a bright day and feeling warmer especially in any sunshine. Max 16°C. So not bad for the 10k and all the spectators, including me!

Next week we drag in some warmer air from the south so temperatures could briefly rise to 21°C before unsettled conditions return and with it, cooler conditions.

Thursday 23rd April – Sunday 26th April

Issued 10:35am on Wednesday 22nd April 2015

Hi,

It’s been a decent run of weather with plenty of warm Spring sunshine and dry conditions but it’s all set to change significantly as we all get reminded we are still only in April.

Thursday hangs on to the pleasant weather but with a little more cloud. The morning may have some cloud around which will burn off. The afternoon will have warm sunny spells. Temperatures decent again and with UV levels between 4-5, sun cream is needed again. Max 17°C.

Friday has a similar morning. Cloudy then some sunny spells. As pressure drops and a change pushes in from the south-west we are likely to see some showers break out later in the day. Some could be heavy. More general rain overnight. Max 15°C.

Not a weekend you were all hoping and planning for.

Sunshine and frequent showers during Saturday, some heavy with possible hail or thunder. Feeling cooler now as a different air mass takes over especially later on. Max 13°C.

We are all into the much cooler air on Sunday. Showers again with a stiff and cold breeze. Some hail or thunder can’t be ruled out again but also some bright spells. Temperatures falling. Max 11°C.

Looking ahead a cool week with a keen north-westerly breeze keeping temperatures around the average or below mark. Again, showers at times, in between drier slots. Some of the media report snow. Any snow during wintry showers will be confined to the Scottish Mountains and the very far north of Northern Hills. Soon people will be saying; “We’ve had our Summer“. 🙂

Thursday 16th April – Sunday 19th April

Hi all,

After a dull, cooler Wednesday, Thursday will be much better. A dry day with some sunny spells. Pleasant in the sunshine but temperatures down on earlier in the week. Max 13°C.
A chilly start on Friday but another dry day ahead with nice sunny spells. Similar temperatures at 13°C.
A decent weekend ahead but it looks like Saturday will offer more sunshine & hence feel warmer.

Saturday will be a sunny day with some fair-weather cloud at times. Again a chilly start, even with a touch of ground-frost. Sitting out in the sun will be very nice but remember UV levels are about 4 now, so suncream needed. Dry with a Max of 14°C.
We pick up a fresh easterly wind on Sunday so cloud likely to have spread in overnight. A cloudy day but some sunny spells are possible later on. Cooler but dry. Max 12°C.

Looking ahead, high pressure stays over the country so dry with bright or sunny spells. Can’t grumble as still no sign of those April Showers.

Thursday 9th April – Sunday 12th April

Hi all,

After a lovely week of warm afternoons with pleasant sunny spells it’s set to become cooler again over the weekend so enjoy it while you can.

Thursday will be a lovely day and with more of a southerly breeze temperatures will climb. Dry with plenty of sunshine. UV levels quite high for April so suncream required if out all day. Max 18°C.

Another decent day on Friday with some hazy sunny spells & warm temperatures. It should remain dry, although with some more cloud possible later in the day, there is a low risk of a shower into the evening. With winds from France, temperatures up to 18°C again.

Saturday throws a little hiccup into our settled warm spell. A front comes through from the west or northwest introducing more cloud and colder conditions. Some rain is possible Friday night into Saturday morning but not huge amounts then sunny spells. A little breezy and much cooler temperatures. Max 11°C.

As we enter Sunday we are likely to see some showers. Early indications suggested a drier and settled day but now it looks like the cool, unsettled conditions will win. Max 13°C.

Looking ahead the remainder of the week should be dry with high pressure close by. A sign the weather might become warmer from midweek before it breaks down into the weekend with rain and unsettled conditions arriving.

March 2015 Stats: Warmest 14.7°C; Coldest -0.9°C; Wettest 22.4mm; Windiest 50mph; Total Rainfall 106.2mm

Thursday 2nd April – Monday 6th April

Hi,

It’s been a miserable few days with severe gales, 50mph+ gusts, well over an inch of rain, hail, hill-snow and rainbows. So what next?

With the Easter break due we could do with some settled weather and to be fair it’s not a bad outlook.

Thursday looks to start with some bright spells but cloud will increase into the afternoon but it should stay dry for most of the day. Some light rain is expected into the evening. Still cool but not as windy as recent days. Max 8°C

Good Friday looks to be wet with rain during the morning. This should slip away to the southeast as the afternoon progresses so a drier but still mainly cloudy end to the day. Max 9°C

Saturday will be a cloudy day but generally dry across the region. Chances of a shower early in the day should ease away. Any bright spells would feel pleasant but still not warm. Max 10°C

Similar into Sunday. Plenty of cloud around and mainly dry. Possibly a misty start in places too with hill-fog or low-cloud on the higher routes. Some sunny spells are possible during the day which would lift temperatures slightly. Max 12°C

Bank Holiday Monday looks dry and settled as high pressure, anchored to our south-west is slightly in charge of our weather. Temperatures not too bad in any bright spells but again it’s a mainly dry picture. Max 13°C

Outlook: Mainly cloudy with some bright spells. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine with temperatures into the low teens. Plenty of dry weather.
