Thursday 12th April 2018 – Sunday 15th April 2018

Hi all,

Finally some warmer weather on the horizon. This time next week I might have dug the shorts out and be planning a BBQ. Of course this is all down to the forecast panning out as planned over the next 6-8 days. We deserve something settled, sunny and warm so fingers crossed.

Thursday: A mostly cloudy day with a cool easterly breeze still affecting the region. This might drag in some drizzle or light rain at times, especially during the morning. Cold. Max 9°C

Friday: Little change. Hopefully less in the way of drizzle and some brightness breaking through here and there as we enter the afternoon. A touch less cold. Max 12°C

Weekend: Mostly dry, slowly warmer.

Saturday: Dry but mostly cloudy,  thickest the further west you are. Just a chance of some isolated patchy drizzle for the morning. Milder. Max 14°C

Sunday: Bright spells and again most areas dry. Southerly winds helping to lift the temperature and we should see some warm sunny spells late in the day. Max 16°C

Temps Wed

Temperatures up to 20°C by Wednesday next week

Outlook: High pressure building and dragging warmer air up from the south/southeast. Cloudier and breezier in western areas otherwise sunny spells and warming up nicely. I’m not promising wall-to-wall sunshine but more so sunny intervals. UV levels in the sunshine up to 4/5, so time to work on your tan and sun-cream routine. We could well sneak a 20°C by midweek and see our warmest weather since August 2017, if we beat 20.2°C. How long will it last? This warm spell looks set to break over the weekend.

Thursday 3rd August 2017 – Sunday 6th August 2017

Hi all,

First off, still no sign of anything summery and worth a BBQ in the next 5 days. After that, there is a chance high pressure builds in from the southwest.

Today is the 8th day in a row with rain, the 17th day in the last 21; not the summer we hoped for after it had started well.

Short-term; little change.

Showery

Low pressure continues to bring unsettled conditions with showers

Thursday: A windy day with frequent blustery showers which could be thundery. The widespread showers should become a bit more scattered later in the day. Feeling quite warm and humid despite the rainfall. Max 19°C

Friday: Low pressure still in charge. Breezy with bright spells and showers, and some heavy. With more of a westerly airflow it will be cooler. Max 17°C

Weekend: Not too bad overall

Saturday: A cool breeze but it should not be as windy as previous days. Sunny spells and just a scattering of showers. Max 16°C

Sunday: Bright spells and any showers should fade by the afternoon as cloud increases with a risk of some light rain from the west overnight or into Monday. A little milder. Max 18°C

Outlook: Rain early next week then hopefully high pressure squeezes in from the southwest and settles things down, so becoming drier, sunnier and a little warmer. BUT, latest forecasts suggest, it will be short-lived.

July 2017 Stats

Max 24.9°C (disappointing)
Min 9.9°C
Wettest 17.4mm
Windiest 36mph
Rain 75.2mm (average)
Rainy Days 23 (ouch!)
Dry Days 8

Thursday 22nd June 2017 – Sunday 25th June 2017

Hi all,

After several days of very warm to hot weather and a risk of thunderstorms later on Wednesday, we’re finally back to more accustomed conditions.

Thursday: The humid air is now being pushed away to the east after yesterday’s showers cleared the air. A lot of cloud with some localised light rain or drizzle for the morning but it will tend to become a little brighter into the afternoon. Much cooler. Max 18°C

Friday: Cloudy with some rain at times, clearing later into the evening to bring some drier conditions and perhaps some brightness. A fresh westerly breeze. Max 17°C

Weekend: Bright spells and showers. Breezy.

Saturday: Bright spells and some showers with a noticeable breeze. I prefer this to the horrible humidity we experienced earlier in the week. Max 17°C

Sunday: Fewer showers, in fact some places dry with some brightness, and hopefully not as breezy as it was on Saturday. Risk of some rain late-evening and overnight. Temperatures around normal. Max 16°C

Outlook: Likely to turn more unsettled with showers and temperatures slipping just below normal.

Forecast Issued at 12:30pm on Wednesday the 21st of June 2017

Thursday 15th June 2017 – Sunday 18th June 2017

Hi all,

After a few changeable days the weather warmed up again on Wednesday and the general theme over the weekend is for more summery temperatures to arrive.

Thursday: Yesterday’s warmth and humidity will be replaced by fresher air from the west. Cloudy with some isolated rain during the morning, moving west to east, followed by brighter skies and perhaps an afternoon or evening shower. Max 18°C

Friday: Generally cloudy, some brightness and mainly dry. A little breezy and temperatures around normal. Max 18°C

Weekend: Very warm sunny spells with variable cloud.

Saturday: A cloudy start is expected but some warm sunny spells will break through at times, especially later in the day. Some northwestern areas and along the west coast could remain cloudy all day. Remaining dry with a slight breeze. Max 22°C but localised sunnier spots could go a couple of degrees higher.

Sunday: Sunny spells and very warm. It should remain dry again and pleasant. BBQ anyone? High UV levels. Lighter winds. Max 24°C

Outlook: A very warm start but fresher conditions following on from the west but it will remain generally settled with sunny spells and just a few showers.

Thursday 8th June 2017 – Sunday 11th June 2017

Hi all,

Welcome to Summer. LOL. It’s been feeling more like autumn this week as an unusually deep area of low pressure for the time of year brought gale-force gusts in exposed places and over 30mm of rain in 48 hours. Locally, in higher locations, 40mm was recorded as well as gusts to 57mph. Impressive stuff.

Summer hasn’t started well after unusually windy weather earlier this week

Will the real summer be making an appearance soon? It doesn’t look like it as there’s no sign of any prolonged sunshine and heat in the next 7 days.

Thursday: Cloudy and wet with rain at times. It’s going to be particularly heavy in the morning and slowly more showery into the afternoon. Some of the late-in-the-day showers could be thundery with hail. Feeling muggy. Max 17°C

Friday: An area of low pressure over the U.K. but it will be quite flabby so no issue with the strength of the wind. Sunny spells and showers the order of the day. Pleasant in any sunshine and the showers easing later. Max 18°C

Weekend: Sunday’s the best day

A wet start to the weekend

Saturday: A band of rain sweeps in quickly from the west followed by showers. Breezy at times. Max 18°C

Sunday: A better day and therefore feeling warmer. Bright spells and perhaps a few light showers. Max 18°C

Looking ahead: Breezy with sunshine and showers but midweek onwards should see the weather settle down as high pressure builds. At the end of the week and into the weekend it could start to warm up nicely with temperatures into the 20s.

Thursday 1st June 2017 – Sunday 4th June 2017

Hi all,

After a lovely Wednesday with plenty of sunshine what’s in store as we enter our meteorological Summer.

Thursday: A cloudy day with some brightness especially during the morning. We drag up air from the South so turning humid and muggy. Max 22°C

Friday: A muggy day. Cloud will thicken and rain, perhaps heavy and thundery, will arrive from the west. After a humid start it will slowly become fresher. Max 17°C

Saturday: Westerly winds back in charge so cooler and fresher but with some nice sunny spells and a few showers. Max 16°C

Sunday: Not much change. Sunshine and showers. Pleasant in any sunshine this weekend as the sun is strong as this time of the year. Max 16°C

Outlook: Low pressure to our north at times and high pressure to our south, so basically a sunshine and showers mixture. Perhaps breezy at times and temperatures around normal or just below with some cool nights.

As always the British weather is very changeable, so keep up-to-date with your local weather by following @ChadWeather on Twitter.

Forecast Issued: Wednesday the 31st of May 2017 at 2:20pm

Thursday 18th May 2017 – Sunday 21st May 2017

Hi all,

Well the rain certainly returned this week and all of a sudden everywhere looks green and is growing. It was much-needed rain but it’s already time the sun returned.

Quite a complex set-up these coming days with timing tricky on when it will rain etc.; as always is the case with showers.

Thursday: A much-improved day than recently with sunny spells and a scattering of heavy showers. Feeling fresher after some humid days. Max 16°C

Friday: A bright start but with low pressure close by to our west, cloud will bubble up during the day with showers arriving. Max 15°C

A showery weekend
Saturday & Sunday: Bright spells and showers. Catch a shower and it could be heavy with hail and thunder and it will feel cool as temperatures drop. Pleasant in any prolonged sunshine. Max 14°C

Any clear spells overnight will lead to quite chilly conditions and even though the risk isn’t that high, we could see the odd rural groundfrost.

Outlook: Showery then hopefully high pressure will build and kill off the showers and allow for some sunshine. However, it doesn’t look set to last with showery conditions returning. Remaining fresh.

Forecast Issued: Wednesday May the 17th at 2:15pm

Thursday 11th May 2017 – Sunday 14th May 2017

Hi all,

After only 20% of the monthly average rainfall in April we’re now 11 days into May and we’ve had zero rainfall, but that’s all about to change.

Headline: We lose the very dry and settled conditions that we’ve had for several weeks as the weather changes to come from the more usual west/southwest direction.

Thursday: Another (last one) sunny day. The sun will turn hazy later on. Feeling very warm and in the early hours of Friday a chance of some heavy showers. Max 19°C

Friday: Cloudy with some heavy showers. These could turn thundery during the day. Some bright spells in between. Much-needed rainfall so we can’t complain. Remaining quite warm though. Max 16°C

A mixed weekend ahead.

Saturday: Sunshine and a few showers of which could be heavy but well-scattered. Feeling warm with any sunshine. A band of more general rain possible overnight. Max 16°C

Sunday: Hopefully not too bad. Bright or sunny spells with a chance of some showery rain towards the evening. Max 16°C

Outlook: Remaining warm with temperatures well into the teens with sunshine and showers. Nights will be less chilly after we experienced some ground frosts this week.

Thursday 6th April 2017 – Sunday 9th April 2017

Hi,

This has to be one of the quietest forecasts for a while. We have high pressure anchored across the U.K. so not a lot happening, however a warm weekend ahead! BBQ time on Sunday if we just hang on to the sunshine?

Thursday & Friday: A lot of dry weather with variable amounts of cloud. Where the cloud gets thin enough, we will see some bright spells and equally, where slightly thicker, then some localised drizzle, especially on higher ground. Feeling cool. Max 11°C

Saturday: High pressure still in charge and hopefully more in the way of sunshine (especially later on) and therefore warmer as winds turn southerly bringing drier air. Max 15°C

Sunday: Looking a decent day but the only downside is the sunshine that develops might become hazy and it could be cloudier if you’re planning to go to the west coast. Warm sunshine developing inland and somewhere could see the first 20°C of the Spring.  Later on Sunday and into Monday the high will be slipping away towards Europe so clouds increasing from the west and becoming cooler. So a good warm spell of weather this weekend but it doesn’t last. Max 20°C

Outlook for Easter: A tricky one as low pressure (rainy) will return but then high pressure (settled) tries to force its way back in. At the moment it looks like Easter will start with some rain at times and cooler but dry up in time for Easter Sunday. As always look out for updates on Twitter at @ChadWeather.

March 2017 Stats

Max 16.1°C (30th)
Min 0.1°C (2nd)
Wettest 19.2mm (17th)
Windiest 34mph (18th)
Rain 104.2mm (above av.)
Rainy Days 25
Dry Days 6
Snow Falling Days 1
Snow Lying Days 1

Thursday 23rd March 2017 – Sunday 26th March 2017

Hi all,

Since I last blogged, it feels like it’s never stopped raining. It’s been an awful spell of weather (50mm of rain in the last 6 days) but finally we have some drier and sunnier weather on the way as we enter a settled spell with some warm-feeling Spring sunshine.

Thursday: Rain that moved through on Wednesday will return and be around in the morning but turn patchy during the day with bright or sunny spells developing. A cool northeasterly wind. Max 11°C

Friday: Low pressure moves away and high pressure topples in and starts to develop across the UK. Sunny spells and dry throughout with the breeze easing. Starting to feel pleasant. A slight frost overnight. Max 11°C

A dry weekend ahead. Yes, dry !

Well Hello High Pressure

Saturday: High pressure firmly in charge. Sunny spells after a cold start with a touch of frost in places. Dry and pleasant in the sunshine with another slight frost overnight. Max 14°C but feeling much warmer in the direct sunshine. [In fact temperatures in the direct sunshine will be around 30°C so it will be nice for sitting out]

Weekend Temps

Weekend temperatures looking good – perhaps a little cooler on Sunday

Sunday: The high might slip away slightly. Western areas likely to remain sunnier but cloud could encroach from the east spoiling the sunshine, lets hope it doesn’t. Remaining dry and a slight frost early and later where skies are clear. Max 12°C but cooler where the cloud appears.

Looking ahead: High pressure set to hang around into next week, so more dry conditions and chilly nights. Pleasant by day where the sun shines but still a chance of cloud now and again from the east. Where the sun is out temperatures could get close to the mid-teens.
